Here is a taste of the FYI about Robert S. Harrah:
From U.S. Camera Annual - 1950:
“A native of California, Bob Harrah, served as a photographer in the Medical Corps in the Pacific Theatre during the war. At the battle of Iwo Jima, he met Life photographer W. Eugene Smith, who had just been wounded during the landing. Returning to civilian life, Harrah attended photographic school in California for 16 months, until Smith convinced him to come to New York to work as his assistant. After 1 ½ years with Smith, he has now returned to California as a free-lance photo-journalist."
